A fine weekend for Newton

CHRIS Newton completed a weekend double for Northern Velo and followed up his own win on Carlton Bank the previous week when he took Roxby Wheelers' open hill climb at Staithes yesterday

Newton, the junior international, again left senior opposition trailing when he covered the 1.9-mile Roxby Hill in 8min 9.3sec to take the verdict by 2.8 seconds from the promoting club's own rider, Neville Jackson.
