Chris Newton, the Middridge CRT rider from Middlesbrough, won the main event in the Carlisle Castle circuit races on Sunday.

Newton, following up his lone win in the Aspirants Trophy race in Derbyshire a week earlier, escaped just ten minutes into the race and lapped the field as he left Carlisle's own rider Mike Pluckrose (Border City Wheelers) to take the sprint for second place.
