10km Points Race
Huw
Pritchard took a thrilling and fluctuating Points Race. After the opening
two sprints had gone to Matt Brammeier and Huw Pritchard, Franz Stocker
and Chris Newton took off in the company of Tom Smith.
Smith faded, but Stocker and Newton picked up the points in the next
sprint and it began to look as though they would stay away and decide
the race between themselves. However, they couldn't quite hold on and
Huw Pritchard came through again to take his second sprint on the race
and take the victory.
Impressive throughout was young Ed Clancy, who had a great evening as
he and his Under 23 Endurance Academy team-mates Matt Brammeier and Mark
Cavendish showed how much they have come on in the two months since the
academy was launched.
1 Huw Pritchard 10points
2 Franz Stocker 5

1km Madison Time Trial
It
took two world champions in Brad Wiggins and Franco Marvulli to beat an
incredibly quick opening ride from Ed Clancy and Mark Cavendish in the
Madison kilo. Clancy and Cavendish stunned the crowd with the fastest
ride of the Revolution series to date and the two members of the GB Under
23 Endurance Academy were looking better with every team which failed
to get close to them, with some very experienced riders struggling to
match the youngsters’ combination of speed and skill. Inevitably
Marvulli and Wiggins were on the pace from the start, but they still had
to work hard to get inside their young rivals’ time.
1. Franco Marvulli and Brad Wiggins 57.990
2. Ed Clancy & Mark Cavendish 58.316
3. Tony Gibb & Chris Newton 59.101
4. James Taylor & Bryan Steel 59.790
5. Dean & Russell Downing 59.826

Elite 10km Scratch Race
A
hard won victory for Franco Marvulli in the Scratch Race wound up the
evening for the elite riders.
Going into the last lap, Brad Wiggins and Chris Newton looked to be odds
on to take the race, but Marvulli and Huw Pritchard, who had both worked
their way up the outside of the field - a hard route to take in a very
fast race - came through on the line to provide the closest finish of
the evening.
Pritchard - who looked in good form throughout the evening - thought
he had it and was celebrating when the result came up on the scoreboard
and confirmed that Swiss rider had taken it by a whisker. Marvulli was
one of the real stars of the evening, playing to the crowd and taking
time to talk to and wave at his many young fans.
