Great
Britain won Gold in Copenhagen when a young team captained by Paul Manning
went close again to breaking the 4 minute barrier. The victory was all
the sweeter because the team brought in a young and untested at this level,
Steven Burke. The rider was given trial last week and impressed so much
so, he was given a ride in the final and his World Cup Gold medal. Having
been training at above world record pace over two kilometres, the GB team
were only eight tenths off the 4 minute barrier they broke at Manchester
last year and again in Majorca at the World Track Championships.
